Granola AI alternatives, on any device.
Granola is a note taker on the computer that records the computer's sound, with phone apps for meetings in person. If you need another platform, notes from the whole room, or your data in the EU, these are the options. Each one's facts were read on its own pages on 16 October 2026.
Android, Windows, Linux, the browser.
Android: Granola has an Android app, and so do Otter, Fireflies and tl;dv. Fathom's phone app is iPhone only. Starlog runs on Android in the browser or installed as an app.
Windows: Granola, Otter, Fireflies, Fathom and tl;dv all have a Windows app. Starlog runs in the browser on Windows.
Linux: none of the five note takers names a Linux app, and Fathom says it does not support Linux computers. Starlog runs in the browser, so a Linux computer records like any other, calls in Chrome or Edge.

What people ask
Is there an open-source Granola alternative?
None of the other five (Granola, Otter, Fireflies, Fathom, tl;dv) says it is open source or offers a version to host yourself. Starlog is not open source either.
Is there a free Granola alternative?
Otter, Fireflies, Fathom and tl;dv have free plans, each with limits shown on its card; Granola's own free plan keeps 30 days of history. Starlog starts with 30 days free, then costs from €24 a year.
Is there a Granola alternative that keeps data in the EU?
Granola says it offers no EU data residency. Starlog stores your meetings on servers in Germany (summaries are written by Anthropic in the United States; see sub-processors), and tl;dv keeps data in Europe.
Does Starlog record with the screen off?
Not yet on every phone. On Android, the web app keeps recording through calls and app switches, and its Black screen button keeps it recording while the screen looks off. Apps for iPhone and Android that record with the screen off are on the way.
Is my audio used to train AI?
Never anyone else's. Recordings in your own private space help improve Starlog's own transcription unless you turn it off in Settings; company and team meetings are never used. See privacy.
