A meeting in the room
Tap Record, type who is there, and tap the red button. Keep Starlog open on the screen. On Android, the screen must stay on while recording: use Black screen on the Record page, which keeps the screen on but dark, and two taps bring it back. Phone calls and switching to another app during the meeting are fine.
Several phones in one meeting
When more people record the same meeting, the transcript gets better: Starlog hears each voice from the phone closest to it and names people by whose phone heard them loudest. The host taps Join a meeting and shows the code or the QR code; the others scan it or type the code, and their phones record too. Everyone in the room gets the meeting afterwards, each with what their own phone recorded; the host can share the full meeting with each of them from the meeting's page.
Someone without a Starlog account can join from the browser as a guest, record with the others, and claim an account afterwards to keep what they recorded.
A call on your computer
On a computer, Record a call records a Zoom, Teams or Meet call running in your browser, together with your own microphone. Starlog asks which tab to record; tick Share tab audio in the browser's dialog. No bot joins the call. On Plus and up, a button next to In the room reads the names of the people in the call from the call's screen.
A voice note
Voice note under Record is for yourself: dictate, and get the text and a summary (on Plus and up, the text cleaned up as well). A voice note is marked as a note, not a meeting with others.
Secure meetings
Turn on Secure on Record before a meeting that must stay between its people. A secure meeting's transcript and summary are encrypted with keys that come from the passkeys of the people in it; nobody else can read them, Starlog's own staff included. The audio is deleted as soon as it has been transcribed, and the meeting is never backed up. People join a secure meeting by QR code only. Others in the company see only that it took place.
What that costs you: Starlog can work on a secure meeting only while you are signed in and unlocked, and if every passkey of yours is lost, the meeting is lost with them. To let your own AI or a share link read a secure meeting, turn on Unlock for export on it; everyone in the meeting sees who did. Enhanced security under Settings makes every new meeting secure and locks the app when it opens and after a quarter of an hour.
Who transcribes
Each meeting says which engine transcribed it: Starlog's own server when it is up, or the cloud services named in the privacy policy. Speaker names come from who was in the room; you can correct any word in the transcript, and Starlog learns from the correction.
